*An estimate, not a measurement. We assume 30 minutes to research each of 6 government updates, 10 minutes to fill each form we pre-fill, and 10 minutes to look up each of 10 organizations, rounded down. Check every pre-filled value against your documents before you sign or submit, and email hello@namesake.life if anything needs changing. Government fees are separate. Newfoundland and Labrador is on hold; Quebec and the territories are not supported.

What’s in a name?
The start of your
family legacy.
Namesake began in 2020 with a simple idea: changing your name should feel like the beginning of something lovely, not another thing on your wedding to-do list.
That idea is still here. The kit is now digital, with the same care for the little details.

Contact supportWhat comes in my Namesake kit?
A personalized checklist, instructions and official links for your province, and supported official forms filled with the details you provide. Select the organizations you use: our directory has 28 entries with a process confirmed on an official website, including 4 with pre-addressed letters and 2 with ready-to-send email text. Availability depends on your province and selections; other confirmed entries have sourced checklist steps. Unconfirmed entries and generic guidance are clearly marked contact-first, not promised letter or email coverage. For online-only, print-only or unsupported forms, a Your details to copy sheet lists saved values alongside the official reference, not box-by-box instructions. You still review, sign and submit your own documents; Namesake does not send notifications for you.
Is this the same Namesake box?
The same Namesake idea, with a new delivery: a digital package you can download and print. There is no physical box or mailer included. The photographs here celebrate our original stationery and brand. Namesake has been helping Canadian couples with their name change since 2020.
Which provinces will be available?
The planned launch covers British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. Newfoundland and Labrador is on hold. Quebec and the territories are not supported.
Do you need my private ID numbers?
No. We never ask for your SIN, health-card, driver’s licence or passport numbers, date of birth, or ID scans. Any required boxes for those details stay blank for you to complete yourself.
What if it isn’t right for me?
Every kit comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Email hello@namesake.life within 30 days of your purchase to request a refund. Each request is reviewed by a person, and approved refunds are paid in full to your original payment method. Your kit access ends when the refund is processed. Government fees you paid directly to an agency are separate and are not refunded by Namesake.
Can I give Namesake as a gift?
Yes. Buy a gift kit at /gift and we email you a one-time code. The recipient signs in at /redeem to unlock their own kit, then checks eligibility in their dashboard. Gifts cost $49 CAD plus tax and include a 30-day money-back guarantee from purchase, with manually approved refunds paid to the purchaser.
How do I buy and open my kit?
Choose your province and pay first. No account or email verification is needed before payment. We attach your kit to the email you pay with and email a magic sign-in link. Use it to open your dashboard and complete your details. The eligibility check on checkout is optional if you are unsure whether the kit fits.
Can I try it before I buy?
Yes. Explore the demo to see the checklist and sample downloads with fictional details before you buy.
